I believe that evidence-based design can solve issues by advocating for proven techniques and data-backed solutions for the best possible outcomes for users

About

As an architect, I enjoyed working on large-scale projects with cross-functional teams acting as an advocate for users. I'm leveraging my existing soft skills, such as leadership, system thinking, strategic thinking, and communications to improve usability in apps and websites.

I hold a master's degree in Architecture with a concentration in Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Some of the clients I have worked with include Northwestern Health, Advocate Health, Ann & Robert H. Laurie Children's Hospital, Froedtert & MCW, OSF Little Company of Mary, OhioHealth, McLaren Health Care, Focus Healthcare Partners, Ryan Companies, and ARCO.

Design Think

My favorite part of working in architecture was interacting with end-users to design spaces that were collaborative, intuitive, and innovative. Below is a game boarding exercise that my team of planners, including me, facilitated for a group of nurses and doctors for the design of an Operative Room (OR). Having the users explain where they set up their equipment during different types of surgery procedures allowed our team to design functional and desirable spaces to improve health results.

EDAC

I am committed to research, and while working as an architect I became EDAC certified (Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification), which is the process of basing decisions about the built environment on credible research to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Eight step process:

  1. Define evidence-based goals and objectives.

  2. Find sources for relevant evidence.

  3. Critically interpret relevant evidence.

  4. Create and innovate evidence-based design concepts.

  5. Develop a hypothesis.

  6. Collect baseline performance measures.

  7. Monitor implementation of design and construction.

  8. Measure post-occupancy performance results.

Affiliations

On my spare time, I act as the Volunteers Chair for the Women in Healthcare Chicago chapter.

On Thursday nights, I use my technical skills as a volunteer with Code for Chicago to improve the experience of people applying for government programs, such as SNAP.

Interests

When I'm not designing, I enjoy embroidering, hiking, swimming, and traveling to new places.
